“…everyone should be ensconcing themselves in a blanket of her sublime, experimental electro-folk.” Paste Magazine
Jófríður Ákadóttir is a singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist known as JFDR who has evolved into one of Iceland’s most prodigious avant-garde artists.
She makes music that’s delicate, meditative and deeply resonant of her motherland. Her sound ripples with icy synths and soft piano, often accentuated by the langspil, a traditional Icelandic string instrument.
She has collaborated with Damien Rice, Low Roar, Arnalds, and Lapalux; has written soundtrqcks for feature films, television, and a video game. Along the way, she’s won critical acclaim and fans across the world. Björk, has cited JFDR as an inspiration.
In May 2024, JFDR won the Icelandic Music Award for Album of the Year in the category Pop, Rock, Rap, and Electronica for her album Museum.
